The Meaning of Life

What really is life? Why are we here? We have been born right into this moment of time. Is that just luck and happening or is a divine hand involved. Is there really a God or just science? Does this idea of something divine change everything? It may seem only scientific, but does something divine make it so? It may just be luck that Earth is just far enough from the sun to let life exist on it. Is it possible that a God made the Earth this far away, or made the sun only just as hot as it is? Why do I think like I do? Is it coincidence or did something make me like I am? What drives us to make the decisions we make everyday? It may seem unimportant, but it could completely alter our path in life.

  1. I like how you answer a question in a way with a new one. It gives the reader a lot to think about, and I've thought about this before too, and I love the ending.

  2. My theory: Lots of things are just coincidence but some greater power does help things along at times. As for God, I think that maybe the gods of all different religions exist. I think gods do exist, but not physically and only as long as there are people who believe in them. It's like the bell in The Polar Express; you can only hear it if you believe in Santa.

  3. I ask myself those questions all the time!!! This piece is really thought provoking. You could extend it a little but whatever.

  4. First off, I really welcome such thought provoking writing. Bringing genuine ideas to class is an accomplishment in and of itself.
I would say that thuis reads like a journal entry; perhaps re-visiting this and asking yourself what format may serve your purpose better would be appropriate. This sort of existential reflection is certainly worthy of more attention than I fear you gave it in this rather quick, small burst of prose.

  5. There is many very valid points in this piece. Your voice is so powerful, and so essay that every piece you write has a big impact on the reader. This piece, is so poetic however that the form it took is a little confusing. Other than that... Great job! :)

  6. I liked the way you wrote that. I believe all religions and people have different outlooks on theories, such as this one. But what causes us to ask ourselves questions like that?

  7. I have wondered that before, too. I like how you brought a lot of different thoughts and questions into this piece. It gave me a lot to think about.

  8. I like how in this piece you do question after question. it keeps the reader on their toes the whole time and keeps them wondering. i also agree that the form this takes is confusing. Is it poetry or essay or what? i think that if you clean it up, it will be even better. Good Job!!

  9. That was some writing that could really provoke your mind. You wrote about one of the questions that people can go on and on and on thinking about. You also did a good job of balancing both possibilities which was great from an analytical standpoint. Good Job
